Reading Our Monthly Church Journal: What's Inside and How to Get a Copy
October 25, 2026
People ask us fairly often whether the church journal is only for members. It isn't. Anyone who wants to read what the congregation is thinking about and praying over is welcome to pick up a copy.
What's in each issue
Every month we print a selection of sermons from the previous weeks, usually the ones people asked us to write down. You'll also find short testimonies from members, a page of prayer requests (names shared with permission only), and notices about upcoming Thursday worship and prayer service dates.
We keep the layout plain. The journal is meant to be read at the kitchen table, not admired on a coffee table.
Who writes it
The pastor selects the sermons, but the testimonies come from ordinary people in the Oretta Community. If you have a story about how God worked in your life this year and you'd like to share it, write it out in a page or less and bring it to the church office. We edit lightly and always check with you before anything goes into print.
Getting a copy
Issues are available at the church on Sunday and Thursday. You can pick up a copy at the door or ask someone at the welcome table. If you live farther away and want one mailed, call the church and leave your name and mailing address. There is a small charge to cover printing and postage, and we will tell you the amount when you call.
Back issues
We keep a few past issues on hand. Ask for the month you missed. If we're out, we'll write down your request and let you know when it's available.
The journal is one of the ways we stay connected between services. Pick one up, read it through, and bring your questions to us on Sunday.
