What to Expect at Our Sunday Worship Service in Singer
October 25, 2026
If you've driven past the church on North Street and wondered what happens inside on a Sunday morning, you're not alone. We get a steady stream of visitors who want to know what to wear, when to arrive, and whether they'll be expected to do anything special. Here's the honest answer.
Arriving
Doors open a little before the morning service begins. Come early if you want a seat near the front or just want time to settle in. Nobody will ask you to introduce yourself or stand up unless you want to. Plenty of folks in the Oretta Community have been coming for decades and still sit near the back on their first visit.
What the service looks like
We open with singing. Some songs everyone knows, some are older hymns, and people sing loud enough to be heard across the parking lot on a good day. Then comes the message, usually a sermon built straight from scripture, read aloud and walked through slowly. Expect the speaker to repeat important points more than once. That is on purpose.
We don't rush the prayer time. If someone feels led to pray out loud, others will join in. Quiet prayer is just as welcome.
What to wear
Come as you are. You'll see work jeans next to Sunday dresses. Modesty matters to us, but we are not going to measure your hemline at the door.
Kids
Children are welcome in the main service. If your little one needs a break, there's space to step out and come back. Bring a small quiet activity if you think they'll need it.
Afterward
Stick around for a few minutes. People usually gather to talk about the week, pray for each other, and sometimes share a meal. If you're new, say hello to whoever is standing next to you. That's usually how a visitor becomes a member.
We meet Thursdays too, and prayer service is held regularly if you want a smaller gathering before you commit to a full Sunday. Call the church if you have questions before you come.
